Alice: The Meaning of Inner Beauty
Revision of "Beauty: When The Other Dancer is the Self
Alice Walker had a lot change for her in just a few moments. When Alice was young, she had confidence in herself. Alice had a whole new outlook on herself after the BB accident. Before, she was smart and beautiful, but now she didn't see herself as either of those things. Her eye was ugly, meaning she was ugly. Now that she thought she was ugly, she had others believing it too. She was so ashamed of her eye, she did not raise her head for six years.
After the tissue was removed, it was like her life resumed; she got the boyfriend, friends, and was valedictorian. As life went on, she still struggled with the thought of her eye still being slightly different than the other. I think after having her daughter tell her that, "There's a world in your eye," she had a new outlook on it. She now could love it because the one opinion she worried about the most accepted it. Alice Walker had the other dancer who was beautiful, whole, free, and who was also Alice.
